Picture of the Day - 2

Welcome Home.

(Again, I came across a whole bunch of these homecoming pictures, and they touch me, so you'll be seeing alot of them.)

  • Yesterday I screened a new HD video I created for our company, and it included footage of employees at the airport welcoming soldiers returning from Iraq. I got a shot of a huge bear hug between one soldier and his family that never fails to bring tears to my eyes -- and I've seen the same shot now about 30 times.

Something about it just gets to me.

Yesterday my daughter heard from her boyfriend in Iraq for the first time in 15 days. He said he'd been shot at twice, narrowly avoided being killed in an IED explosion (his job is to find and destroy them), etc. He sounded completely burnt out, exhausted, desperate to get out.

I think of him every time I see a homecoming picture. I imagine you have someone similar in mind, and that's why they touch you, as they do me.

  • Keep these photos coming. In fact, I hope there are so many that all our blogs are jammed with them and soon.
