  • I picked this photo because of it's extreme nature.

    I do feel the need to add that some of the S. Korean protesters at the WTO were in fact violent, but I still think this photo captures an excessive response by the Hong Kong police.

    Much like the pictures from the 2004 political conventions with the local police dressed as stormtroopers, this picture speaks to me of violent excess by the authorities.

  • Yeah, Matt, they've been dancing along that line alot. I don't know the specific legal details around the use of military personnel at the Republican convention, although I know that some of the NYC police tactics crossed alot of lines, but with some of the other actions in this area, I couldn't claim to be surprised.

    And Besides, under the current "we're at war" legal interpretations, is posse comitatus still applicable?
