If you've got a few free minutes, read this account from the LATimes of a soldier who served in Afghanistan and his descent when he returned home. I think you'll find it worthwhile.

  • It was a very worthwhile article. This sentence said it all: Thirty years after Vietnam, we seem to have learned very little.

    Sadly, for many people like Jeff, death is the only way to escape the pain.

  • I'm always a little hesitant in recommending "soft" articles in that their appreciation is largely subjective and subject to a previous point of view.

    But I thought this one was pretty good.

    What caught me was the one trained PTSD psychologist covering LA to San Fran. That's unbelievable.
