Even George Will gets it.

Today, with all three components of the "axis of evil'' -- Iraq, Iran, North Korea -- more dangerous than they were when that phrase was coined in 2002...

  • How can this be? President bush has been "rooting them out" for years?

  • It's funny watching Will on This Week struggle with his natural "conservative" inclinations (i.e., small government policies, budget deficits are generally bad, nation building is a nightmare waiting to happen, etc.) and his job as Bush shill, especially when the Bushies have had a particularly bad week and Will's forced to try and defend some piece of Bush/Cheney ineptitude.

I think will has always been a rather uneasy Bush ally. He doesn't really like the administration's policies, he doesn't seem to particularly respect the preznit, but you know every time he unloads a columns like today's or a bit of potent criticism on air, Karl Rove is right on the phone letting him have it.

Let's see if Will's back on board the Bushworld Express next week or whether he continues to distance himself from the "worst preznit ever" (as Atrios puts it.)

  • Being an apologist for Bush will never leave you unemployed, but sometimes you have to wonder, is it really al this extra work?

  • is it worth all this extra work, I meant to say.

  • I'm not a huge george will fan, but educator above captures it pretty well.

You know, I don't think I would have the sheer antagonism towards this admin if they were actually conservative. I certainly wouldn't like the social cuts, but these guys aren't conservative, they're radical. Remaking the mideast? Who the hell thinks that's conservative?

And, Lew, I think it'd be best to ask John Yoo. He has worked the hardest of anyone to make the Bush stuff appear okay. We'll have to wait and see how it ends up for him.
