  • Yes, Michael, sort of. For the Nat. guard it's gotten more expensive, and they generally have to travel significant distances and they are often put down the priority list. It gets especially complicated if they are relieved of service because of their injuries.

    Reg army is still relatively okay so long as you're in hospital, but once you get out and still need treatment, there are huge waiting lists, and reimbursements are very slow and difficult.

    And if, god forbid, they have to see a doctor not with the army, a specialist or emergency, that often ends up coming largely out of pocket.

    In the bigger picture, general vet benefits have been cut, medicines more expensive etc.

    There is a big difference in treatment whether you are still active service or not. If your injuries are enough to get you released, the whole thing gets a whole lot worse.

    I am not an expert on this, this is just from anecdotal things I've come across, but, yeah, the Bush admin has cut vet benefits and that includes medical care.
