Picture of the Day - 2

  • I believe that is poor Travis Babbitt.

His unit was portrayed on an episode of Frontline.

And here is a picture from better days.

A photo is worth a thousand words. I thought I'd just add a few dozen more.

  • Thanks a ton,

This is one of those I grabbed off another website where it had no context.

I just have great respect for the army medical folks who get next to no press, and I thought this captured that repeated battle against time they face.

If you have the time, I recommend watching that Frontline episode online. It particularly affected me when I saw it last year. Babbitt died in a night patrol from a sniper's bullet. He was the gunner, situated on the top of the Humvee and exposed to enemy fire. Though mortally wounded, he returned fire on the sniper's position and possibly saved the lives of his fellow soldiers -- as he alone knew where the sniper was.
