  • You know I was going to come up with something funny, but I think that there is something more important here. This is the look of a man who knows that he's botched the job, and given that he knows, one wonders if he has the strength of character to change course?

  • This is the very first photo that I've ever seen of this man where he actually looks like a thinking, caring human being. He seems to finally be asking himself, "My God, what have I done?"

  • No, he's thinking about how fucking stupid the liberals are, and how their ideals match that of the enemy.

    History shows how the liberals came against the greatest heroes in our time, those who came against Communism, including Reagan, Bush, Nixon.

    I love it when the liberals keep it up, and we simply dole out more rope. We like to wait for the right moment to jerk that rope hard.

    Your criticisms would be far stronger if you didn't hide behind your anonymity to throw your bombs. That's what the terrorists do.

    And, if I remember right, it was Kennedy who faced down the communists in the Cuban missile crisis. It was the Democrats who won WWII, and it was the Republicans who lost Korea, gave up on Vietnam and have managed this current fiasco of a war. So, if you want to throw around stupid, I think you'd better look in the mirror.(although I would argue you're probably more ignorant than stupid. Other than your agressive language in the place of real argument I have no method of determining the degree of your stupidity.)

    I'm willing to carry on a conversation with you, but don't hide behind anonymity like a fearful little baby. Stand behind your criticism or go away. Also, no cussing please. Normally I would delete that comment, but I think it's ignorance might be educational for those who come by.

    (see, I can flame, too, chicken.)

    And Kvatch and anonymous no. 1, that's why I put it up, because it reflects such a moment of fatigue and doubt which stands in such stark contrast to the man that is sold as George Bush.

  • I disagree. Not fatigue or regret. A narcissist is only capable of those feelings about themselves.

    It's more likely a practiced rovian expression done at a moment in the media.

  • Really, Greyhair, I see a resigned fatigue. I do buy the narcissist/socipath line, but that doesn't necessarily negate genuine emotion.

    After all, all those people dying in Iraq are tarnishing HIS legacy.

  • I don't remember the context, sorry. I think it was just a stock or pool photo of an unguarded moment at one of the appearances. So, it could have just been a tired moment in a long day.

    And, quite frankly, I usually don't put up the best or my favorite pictures over the weekend because readership is down and I don't want to waste them, and this morning I was in a hurry, and this was the first one grabbed me. It was really just a filler picture, a placeholder. I didn't intend to start a whole thing over it. Sorry.

    But as you both point out, my projections of Bush are one way, and yours are another, and that's kind of interesting. Kind of a rorschach picture in a way. In the end, that's what I'm after in all these pictures. I try to find pictures that carry some emotional content, or evoke something open ended. Sometimes the message I'm after is dead on clear, and sometimes I just pick them because they show something I don't normally see, a different side. I feel that sometimes these pictures can pose questions and launch emotions and thoughts that I can't get at through my writing.

    So, filler picture, don't remember what it was from, just grabbed me this morning. I'm glad you got something out of it.
