Playing politics with National Security
This is so wrong on so many levels. Somebody "leaked" to the British Telegraph that
After five and a half years of this administration, I shouldn't be surprised by dirty politics anymore, but are you kidding me?
American defence officials have secretly requested a "prodigious quantity" of ammunition from Russia to supply the Afghan army in case a Democrat president takes over in Washington and pulls out US troops.....
The Bush administration is said to want the deal because of worries that the next president could be a Democrat, possibly Hillary Clinton, who may abandon Afghanistan.
After five and a half years of this administration, I shouldn't be surprised by dirty politics anymore, but are you kidding me?

I see this as a backhanded slam against the Dems. See, they wouldn't have the balls to stay in Afghanistan.
Also, just as a note, it works outr to a little over 11,100 AK47 bullets to each soldier.

Dumping large quantities of ammo in Afghanistan sounds like an incredibly stupid idea - one that we might come to regret sometime soon.

Yeah, Romunov, there have been several reports of arms shipments going missing to Iraq, as well as several reports out of Bosnia of small wepons shipments out.
I haven't seen anything indicating a destination yet, although Somalia where the US is backing the warlords might be one guess.
