After leaving office, Robert McNamara, the architect of the Vietnam War, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

  • Yeah, phenomenal movie.

    I caught a replay the other night, and that's what placed this in my head.

    The parallels are just frightening. Even down to the mannerisms and discussion style of McNamara and Rumsfeld.

    And, the depiction does present McNamara as a victim of circumstance and subject to the politics of LBJ.

    Not accurate, but interesting. The failure was based on his own inaccurate view of the world, that Vietnam was more than Vietnam. The mistake was blowing uop that conflict as a major piece in the cold war, which it wasn't.
