Julia Wilson, 14, was taken out of class and questioned by the Secret Service for 45 minutes after temporarily posting a picture with "Kill Bush" scrawled across the top on her MySpace page.

  • Being NOT surprised that our Secret Service is "Big Brother"; my first reaction was to think that my little blog (which gets 5 readers a day if I'm lucky) would be read by such important people in Washington D.C.

    I have said such horrible ( and now days illegal) things about our President (see archives).

    I thank you for being one of those readers and warn you that while reading my blog you may be under police observation. I will have to post that warning on my header.

    All I was thinking as I was reading this story is

    "Aren't there real terrorists out there?"

    This was at least two guys, so at least two man days flying out there and back were wasted.

    Time, the creepy thing to me is that waht caught her was supposedly a picture. So either it wasn't simple text scanning, or text scanning put it into the pile where it was looked at.

    And at this point, you pretty much have to assume anything you type is observed. That's the country we live in.

  • I would really like to see the transcript of that 'interview' in a major newspaper, so that we could all see the depths to which our law enforcement have currently sunk.

  • Sumo, it's amazing how far we've come. Hell, they're tapping phone calls without warrant, they're detaining citizens without charge.

    Local, from the article it sound like they were just trying to scare her threatening juvie. What purpose did that serve?

  • Yes, this looks like a big waste of the Secret Service's time and money. Yes, I think they should be looking for the real bad guys, and they ought to be using dogs to sniff around container ships, and they should be securing nuke plants and chemical plants, etc.

    And dumb dumb dumb teenagers like this one should know by now NOT to post stuff like this on their MySpace pages. And parents like the one in the picture should pay more attention to what their kids are doing on their computers.

    This is one of the key points of law enforcement in America. Scare the hell out of them when they are kids so they will be good citizens later in life, too afraid to step out of line.

  • Dave, There are real people out there who want to do damage. And, I don't know how long the picture was up, "temporarily." If it was less than a day, I can understand why the parents might not know.

    Praguetwin, I've often thought that that's one of the reasons that he President wants the pwer to torture. He wants to be able to scare. Not saying it's right, and not saying that they haven't tortured because they have, but I think it's an effort at intimidation.
