"I encourage you all to go shopping more"

Bush just said that in the prepared remarks before his press conference. Not be happy. Not love your family.

"I encourage you all to go shopping more."

It's the least you can do for your country.

  • I have done my part for the war effort, I bought a new DVD player/recorder.

This President is lost. Dangerously lost.

I simply could not believe what I was hearing. Did he really say that, I kept asking myself as I listened to him.

  • Only if he said "hate your neighbor" could the president have uttered a statement more antithetical to the message of Christ.

You want to know what the "war on Christmas" looks like? It looks like this: "I encourage you all to go shopping."

  • It's the military/industrial/shoppingmall complex that Eisenhower warned us about.

  • Well, I still have shopping to do, so I'm doing my part, at least.

If we lose Iraq it will be because y'all malcontents didn't buy enough Barbie gear.

  • Ok, what do you all want for Christmas, I'm buying, I want to support my President.

  • Well, retail sales are down again. And they so rely on Christmas to put them in the black.

  • It's pretty scary really. Normal stores expect 1/4 to 1/3 of their sales in this month, some expect 50%.
