I wish I could put something like this on my telephone. We've been absolutely INUNDATED with calls -- surveys, campaigns, etc. Living in the sticks as we do, we don't get foot traffic campaigning.

The problem is that we actually have two races and multiple viable candidates in each. Just one race on the Repub or Dem side with two candidates isn't nearly so bad.
But it makes far better watching.

I do want to say, though, that I resent the reporting being done on the major media, including NPR. They talk about the Iowa caucuses in horse-race terms: who's ahead and who's behind, without bothering to tell us WHY.
They don't mention that, say, Obama's approach to national health care seems like a better idea than, say, Biden's. I guess it's too much trouble.

8r, agreed. While I'm a fan of NPR for giving me a much broader, less tabloid view of things, they too are guilty of reporting this like a pre-game sports show.
In the broader public radio content, however, you can find more indepth policy analysis. WBUR produces "On Point" which is excellent and distributed nationally. WEVO in NH produces "The Exchange" which has a local NH focus, but is also excellent at providing challenging, in depth, news analysis.
The corporate media are a wasteland of intellect. They feed us tabloid tripe like 20/20 and Dateline and 48 Hours Mystery. Phooey!

8r, agreed, although I think that to some unknown degree the movement isn't related to the technical aspects of their positions.
Voting decisions for a majority are more about amorphous feelings.
And the reason I think we see so much horse race coverage is that that's what "sells." News is about ratings now. I'm not saying that's right, but that's the way it is.
(Plus horse race is much easier to cover and present in 30 second standups.)
