Kneepads McCain doin' his thang.

So, let's see, McCain blames Rumsfeld for losing the Iraq war. Then he flips on a 20 year old position saying Roe vs. Wade should be overturned. And now at a convention of religious broadcasters,
The Rev. Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition said after McCain's private meeting in Orlando that he helped repair damage with Christian conservatives.

"He recognized he cannot be president of the United States without reaching out to the evangelicals," Mahoney said. "There definitely is an uneasy relationship between McCain and people of faith, but he is reaching out and he is breaking down those walls. He helped himself in that room tremendously today."

What do you think he offered them?

Tell me again about "the maverick" and his "courage."

  • Yeah I use to have some respect for this guy but not anymore. He's a sham and now showing us his real stripes. I know all politicians are all somewhat wishy-washy but McCain is showing us to be a HUGE vote whore.

  • I couldn't agree more with james. I think the term "sham" pretty much says it all. By the NH primary, he'll be a walking punchline.

  • James, I was a 2000 McCain supporter.

This is not the same guy.

  • What happened to McCain? Did he really have a breakdown in character, or was it all a show in 2000?

  • My opinion, no more.

Someone came to him in the heat of the 2004 race and offered him the devil's deal. If he would not protect Kerry from the Swiftboaters, they would give him donor lists, strategy help, and coordinate operations to make him look better. Part of the deal on his side, was that he would support Bush and the war.

What McCain got was the Republican nomination. What the Bush administration got was a win in 2004 coupled with the prospect of a friendly McCain presidency. It was all about covering ass for them. Imagine what would've happened if they had had Kerry come in nosing around in 2004.

So, I think once MCCain sold his soul, he accepted that his "will to power" was worth anything.

    Just my opinion.
