John McCain's photo op killed 21 Iraqis

You can't say for sure that this wouldn't have happened without McCain's market photo op, but I am pretty damn confident in saying that 21 Iraqis were killed by insurgents to debunk McCain's ridiculous claims of progress in Iraq.
21 Shia market workers were ambushed, bound and shot dead north of the capital.

The victims came from the Baghdad market visited the previous day by John McCain, the US presidential candidate, who said that an American security plan in the capital was starting to show signs of progress.

Let's remember that McCain's main claim of success was a reduction in death squad killings, and now there are 21 bodies bound and shot from the market he visited the day before.

McCain's photo op got these people killed.

(Later: Now McCain's giving "exclusive" video rights to 60 Minutes.)

  • It was bad enough when it was just a publicity stunt. Now it's turned out to be the photo-op version of Bring 'em on.

  • Well, I've been really curious why the military folks in Iraq agreed to pull the stunt.

They were putting their soldiers at risk for that thing. I'm sure the intent was good PR (in Iraq?) but imagine if a soldier had gotten killed doing this fools errand.

And, McCain will wear this around his neck for at least the next two years.

  • This is the straw that broke the camel's back. He's committed to the failing war and he's going to go down with that ship. I would be very surprised if he officially announces his candidacy. Chances are he's done and if he's smart, he'll realize that.

  • Interesting you should say that because last night his campaign announced they are remaking their fundraising team and delaying the official announcement.

I'm pretty sure the delay is due to fundraising, but it is right after the trip before he's made a statement.
