  • I've really given up trying to figure this whole thing out.

    The only thing I can figure is that the administration figures thatthey'd have to bring in a straight arrow for confirmation after all this mess, and there are things a straight arrow would find that are far worse than the damage their taking now.

    I don't buy the loyalty argument.

  • Probably pressure from within the GOP is the only thing that gets Bush attention. He did eventually dump Rumsfeld.

  • Anon, I think the key question that is at this point largely a blank spot is what the downside is to letting Gonzales go.

    Does the White House open itself up to some legal jeopardy with a new straught shooter, or are they just worried about not getting a team player.

    The equation isn't just loyalty at this point. There's some cost valuation that we're not seeing.
