I'd like to see a picture of Mitt in a dull, once-white undershirt, a two-day growth of beard, a bad case of bed-hair and dark circles under his eye's. He'd be hunched over a cup of coffee at a kitchen table with mismatched chairs as he worries how he'll pay both the mortgage AND the $1,200 heating bill the propane company just dropped off...
Now THAT would be awesome.
Mitt had a chance to position himself as the new face of the Republican part. A socially moderate conservative not beholden to big oil or big pharma or the military industrial complex. This would have been consistent with his words and actions for most of his political career.
Unfortunately, back in 2004 he started to reposition himself closer and closer to Bush and the right-wing base as he began his calculus for a presidential run. I think it is starting to backfire. He's the object of contempt from his GOP co-candidates and will be red meat for attack ads. He's also (apparently) decided to alienate independents.

EPM, He built his campaign on the premise that he could be the "social conservative" to beat Giuliani.
Frankly, it was the reasonable bet at the time, but it presumed that it would quickly evolve into a Giuliani and anti-Giuliani primary.
He built a reasonable strategy, but events have overtaken him.
.....
I'm thinking more Bush Sr. He actually did the exact same thing, donning the sweater and throwing snowballs.

I understand Romney's strategy. I'm just saying candidate Romney is a character created by polling, perceptions, and raw political calculus. I think Republican voters are increasingly seeing him as a phony poseur.
I'm expecting McCain to win NH, Romney to come in second and Huck to poll better than expected, thus keeping his name in the papers. Huck also seems to have winning potential mojo in SC and NV. Who knows.

Oh yeah. Definitely a put on.
Those are exactly my predictions except to add that Giuliani's finish will likely be derided, because unlike Iowa, he actually did spend money here before giving up.

I don't think Romney likes to get his hands dirty.
The Kennedys were known for their family football games. I have this image of the Romneys hiring a family to dress up like them and play football for their vicarious viewing entertainment.
