Picture of the Day - 2

Okay, maybe I'm not current on my ethanol technology, but do you really need safety glasses when handling corn?

  • Of course, you need to wear safety glasses! You never know when one of those kernels could explode. They are just chocked full of potential energy.

As any mom will tell you, it's all fun and games until someone gets an eye put out.

  • It's not the corn but the corn leaves that you want to watch out for.

Serious as a heart attack on that one. They're little finely toothed ridges on those buggers and they're right at eye level. Especially if you're allergic to that stuff.

8 years of detasseling seed corn in Iowa I know's what I'm talking about.

  • Mustard, that's exactly what I was thinking. "Chocked full of energy."

    ...

Matt, many a fine artist has been lost to "the heartland."
