Quote - When even your name becomes a joke

EPM pointed me to this piece on Condi Rice's ineffectiveness.
Israeli TV announcers coined her name as a verb, meaning to go endlessly around in circles, accomplishing nothing.

Meanwhile, Israel and Hamas have announced a negotiated peace treaty today (which wouldn't have happened if they had listened to the Bush administration's stance.)

  • It's funny, until you realize these clowns (Bush admin) have the power -- and ill-temperament -- to instigate unmentionable human tragedy and conflict.

  • Have you notice that the path to peace -- or at least a somewhat stable non-violence -- has been achieve by doing the polar opposite of what Bush pontificates? Lebanon-Hezbollah, Israel-Hamas... Even Iraq-Iran.

I'm sure this is too much of a simplification on my part, but I do think the world sees Bush as something to be worked around, not with. If he wasn't so predictably dangerous he'd simply be irrelevant.

  • What a farce. Rice criticizing the Israeli settlers was supposed to please the Saudis. The Israelis ignore her and the Saudis pump a bit of heavy oil that the refineries can't handle.

  • EPM, I think that's because the Bush admin has been proposing avenues of conflict, non-negotiation and hostility.

Anon, But Iraq made us safer. Everyone respects the president for his courageous decision.

  • Conflict is good for the arms industry.

  • And it's been pretty good for the oil industry.

  • True but I don't think oil at $140 a barrel was part of the plan. The whole world is feeling the pinch now and everybody knows who to blame.
