Quote II

"I do think that, frankly, Barack Obama looks toward Europe for a lot of his inspiration," top McCain supporter Mitt Romney told Fox News on Tuesday. "I think John McCain is going to make sure that America stays America."
.

Deconstruct that bit of jingoism....

  • And what makes America, America? Unilateral global military intervention? Money-lust and greed over civics? Disrespect and dishonor of every other country on the planet... just because? Contempt for wage earners? Hatred of government of the people, by the people and FOR THE PEOPLE?

Yeah. I'm sure McCain will make sure America stays the lilly-white, privileged class, privateering, earth-raping America that Cheney/Bush has created.

(God I really don't like Mitt Romney and is ilk)

  • I think the implication is that Europeans are all soft, socialistic appeasers...well Old Europe anyway....the Czeechs just agreed to some early warning radar thingy so they are tough, capitalistic, confronters of evil..

  • That should be Czechs of course.

  • EPm, it took you awhile to get around to white.

    ....

Anon, that's the first read, but there's also the ugly US subtext drenched in race, religion, "heartlandism", and bigotry.

You could write a book on this statement and what it means in the context of America.

  • "EPm, it took you awhile to get around to white."

    HA!

I hope you meant that as goodnatured ribbing. Because, I mean, have you seen the Romney's... or a GOP event!? :)

  • As far as I know, I'm the inventor of "spot the black guy" at GOP events.

  • Two examples of what Republicans mean when they say "make sure that America stays America."

    Rounding up long-settled "illegals"

US Immigration doggedly trying to deport a 15-year-old "Guatemalan" girl who was adopted in 1994!

Your government at work... Makes me sick.
