Video from Kuwait ("Money" from the three point line)

A YouTube Obama in Kuwait video. (Kinda weirdly edited.) There's a number of them if you care.

Maybe what impressed me most is that he was money from the three point line, sinking his first with all the cameras on him, in street clothes, not warmed up, after how many hours on a plane?

(CNN also has some edited versions on their website and a raw clip from Afghanistan. They also feature the three pointer.)

  • I'm at a loss as to how anyone can watch those videos and say that Obama does not support the troops.

As for the CNN clip, do you notice the resentment and contempt for Obama by the troops? Neither did I. They seem impressed by him and excited to meet him.

The McCain camp must be seething. Their talking points are collapsing around them and the trip is just starting.

  • Yeah. That's why I linked them. They're not great but they make that point.

Really, though, it's the Iraq soldiers I'm really curious about.

I am too, though I'm not sure if he will have contact with anyone beyond the officer corps.

I wasn't implying that you didn't think Obama supported the troops; I was merely amplifying the logical conclusion.

McCain's big trump card is "the troops", and the troops don't seem to have a problem with Obama. It's getting across in the media, too. I would have thought that at least one person would have confronted him in a media-fueled moment, but that never happened. Kuwait isn't Iraq, but if those kind of anti-Obama sentiments were truly broad, someone would have called him a traitor or appeaser or whatever, and the media would fixated on that totally.

  • I think he will, even if it's a controlled "dining with" or something.

As to your second point, because of the nature of the thing, I think a soldier going overboard positive is more likely than someone going overboard negative.
