Let down

I'm sure I won't be the only one to say it, but, after a week of increasing tension and such a successful news embargo on the VP choice, it's kind of a let down that the dam broke and the text message went out overnight.

  • I know. Wonderful twist, no?

  • I think the real story is - how did they keep a lid on it?

Wouldn't you think that such a feverishly-anticipated story would have been leaked by at least one excited or disaffected staffer somewhere in the ranks of the very widespread Obama machine?

Doesn't it speak well of their unified will that they were able to make the story wait until they were ready for it?

Or, does it imply that the Democratic Party machinery is run by some sort of fiat power from one guy, Obama, and that everyone else is merely waiting for instruction, cluelessly?

I mean, I'm voting for the guy. Clearly he's smarter than McCain by several points. But I'd like a bit more information about how decisions are made and implemented by the new group that will hopefully soon be installed in Washington.

    Transparency in government, you know?

  • That's a fair point. Such message discipline is astonishing, but, if there was some sort of coverup....

My general sense from watching these guys is that there's like a "senior council" of two or three who get Obama's thinking unfiltered, and it's that small group that kept the secret.
