  • Karl Rove there on the right looks even worse without the makeup, doesn't he?

  • Think his supporters look sad? Get a load of his advisers.

  • I went to the Iowa State Fair yesterday. There is an informal vote where people put put a corn seed in a pint canning jar for their canidate. I'm happy to report that Obama was ahead 2 - 1 after five days at the Fair.

  • I thought everybody would love this one.

Matt, one of the differences this year is that all the Dems are "proud" to claim support for Obama where the Republicans aren't.

I live in Texas. It's a big change. I haven't seen a single McCain sign yet.

  • umm... the guy in the foreground- is that a shadow, or did he wee his pants?

  • I'm more fascinated by the older guy with the walker towards the back who looks dead.

  • I live in the reddest part of Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, and there are quite a number of Obama supporters. And not so many McCain enthusiasts as there are 'anti-Obama' voices.

Obama has a great chance of winning this state. Especially great is the news that former Gov. Mark Warner is the keynote speaker! He's leading Gilmore for John Warner's senate seat by like 30%.

Also a chance that our current gov Tim Kaine will be the VP pick, but we don't really want that, or think it's the best choice.
What's the sentiment elsewhere about Kaine?

  • I'm seeing a ton of anti-Obama among the Republicans down here (in Houston, Texas.) A lot of "nose holding" support for McCain.

But no yard signs (not one,) and I've seen only one bumpersticker.

    ...

I gotta say, I'm really excited to hear about Virginia. Matt from above gave on the ground in Iowa and EPM did New Hampshire in the primaries, and there are all those anecdotal little things you don't get any other way.

And, I gotta be honest, Kaine's image outside of Virginia isn't great. My one memorable exposure was when he did the State of the Union rebuttal, and it was pretty awful. Everyone said it was beneath his abilities, and I sure hope so.

As a more broad statement, I don't think Kaine is it because his office was spawning alot of that VP speculation a couple weeks ago. It felt more like the Obama camp making a political profile raising payback to him for his very early support, you know?

  • This image is incredible. It's stereotypical America in a single frame. We're only missing evidence of "dumb" in the fat, white, dumb and lazy vision most of the world has of us.

  • Well, they are at a McCain rally......

(Okay, a little cheap, but I couldn't resist.)
