Picture of the Day

Daddy's home.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't feel like McCain made up any significant ground during Obama's week of vacation. Opportunity missed.

  • I think it's Obama who's missed opportunity ever since the end of the primaries, when he immediately started taking more conservative positions. At this point, the spread should be huge.

  • Praguetwin, They're probably reacting to the daily trackings but those are fairly problematic. If you look at the major standard polling, it's still +5.

Also, I maintain that the volunteer/ground operation bit I discuss in the next post is worth at least a point, probably two.

    ....

Abi, I don't know about that. Taking those positions may have cost on the left, but tose people will vote for him anyway. The main thing those shifts did was take some of the air out of the McCain attacks.

    ....

(And, in general, wait until we're through the conventions. The Obama folks kinda laid off feeding the fervor for the last two months, but I'm guessing the convention will be something of a relaunch.)

  • Abi: Moderate positions are a lot more popular than far-left positions.

If he wants to win the country, he can't campaign just to the left anymore.

  • Yeah. And he really hasn't moved across the board, just one or two key spots. Again, like the wiretapping, meant to take away the McCain attack.
