"Enough is enough"

The McCain camp must be feeling real pressure over the economy (especially after his "the fundamentals of the economy are strong" statement.)

They're running a new ad which tries to hijack the Obama refrain, "Enough is Enough."

Also notice that today he tries to rewrite yesterday's "fundamentals" comment
Makes a point during the event to say “it is a bad economy,” after Monday flurry over his “the fundamentals of our economy are strong,” remarks.

  • So today the economy is bad, eh?

Isn't that why we gave huge tax cuts to the wealthy? Wasn't that supposed to make our economy strong?

    "Trickle-down" doesn't work. "De-regulation" doesn't work.
    "Voluntary guidelines" don't work.

We've given all that a fair try. It's been a disaster.

  • I definitely believe trickle down doesn't work. This country runs on consumer spending, and it's the middle class that spends their money the most quickly (gets it into the economy.)

Voluntary guidelines usually work with the first generation that signs onto the guidelines on both sides, but the next gen isn't really bound (especially if there are no teeth.)

As for regulation, I'm mixed. Some of the stuff is unnecessarily burdensome for benefit, but regulation is very necessary where benefit outweighs cost. Food safety. Worker's rights. Poisoning the water. Not, you know, melting down the entire financial system.
