No Questions for Palin

Sarah Palin is meeting with Karzai today, along with a few others, but print and TV reporters will not be allowed. Only photographers.

So, giving images with world leaders, but still dodging questions.

Later: This thing blew up. TPM has a "tick tock" on the process, and they limited the photographers to 29 seconds. (Taking no chances.)

The AP also has an unflattering version.

Later: 40 days since a McCain press availability. 25 days for Palin.

McCain is scheduled to hold a 15 minute press conference today (just long enough to reset the clock so he can claim he held one.)

  • This is what has bubbled to the top of American democratic governance? The cream of the corp? McCain-Palin?

Sometimes -- especially in these current times -- I wonder if the best medicine for rebuilding a great, free and democratic country is to just let it all go to hell. Collapse under our own weight... of greed, of hubris, of selfish stupidity. Sometimes I think that's what it will take to remove the veil of blind ideology from the American electorate... To reach a reality so stark, so cold and so clear that even denial is crushed and all that is left is to roll up our sleeves and become thinking citizens again.

    Just venting...

  • Yeah, but that's not what happens.

In/after a significant crisis, people turn to "strength" and you get fascists and dictators.

At least that's the historical norm.

  • Sadly, I think Bush is actually trying the best he can. It's just that the fundamental ideas are so bad.
