Desperate

Apparently, John McCain is going on Saturday Night Live three days before the election.

  • I'm guessing the appearance is a hope to dampen the comedic CW that he's already lost.

SNL has been setting some pundits worldview since Tina Fey/Palin.

  • Does this help or hurt McCain? I think it does nothing because I suspect the SNL audience is divided between a) those who are apolitical and b) those who have strong political convictions (a la The Daily Show).

Also, there's always a chance for an Obama walk-on. And SNL is doing a Monday election special. I wouldn't be surprised to see Obama make a cameo appearance on either Saturday or Monday. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't...

  • Well, I don't think it helps him directly in winning votes, but.....

Maybe McCain's being there stops them from doing a skit about he and Palin living through the loss which would be replayed endlessly (if it's funny) on the Sunday shows and into Monday.

Think about all the CNN, MSNBC, Sunday show replays of the Tina Fey impersonations.

If he can even temper that......

It's an anti-CW move in my book.
