The new McCain attack, "Socialist."

"Barack Obama's tax plan would convert the (Internal Revenue Service) into a giant welfare agency, redistributing massive amounts of wealth at the direction of politicians in Washington," the Republican candidate said.

"At least in Europe, the socialist leaders who so admire my opponent are up-front about their objectives. They use real numbers and honest language. And we should demand equal candor from Senator Obama," McCain said.

  • Barack Obama- Communist Marxist Socialist terrorist secret Muslim.

Soon to be labeled as: pedophile drug abusing Satanic atheist.

    And then:President-elect.

Much to the consternation of Real America.

  • So from this rhetoric, we are to understand that not only is Obama a socialist, he is a dishonest American socialist not the honorable European kind? What nonsense! (but don't most of the Americans McCain is aiming at with this hate Europeans, too??)

  • Socialist and liar in one sentence: not bad.

  • McCain must surely have Bob Dole writing his copy.

Hasn't Obama's tax plan been out in the open for close to a year now? But McCain is asking for "candor" from Obama?

All of a sudden, people are supposed to recognise that this means "socialism". Are these the same people who think that nationalising the banks isn't socialism?

As long as we have progressive taxation, there is going to be "redistribution of wealth" - even with McCain as President.

This, combined with the "ultra-patriotism" line, is just incredibly weak.

  • Lew, I think they're just upset because they're realizing they aren't "America" anymore. We're not just rejecting their candidate, we're rejecting their whole belief system.

    .....

Ptelea, How big is the anti-Europe vote right now?

    ....

Todd, The weird thing is they really believe this is gold.

I'm assuming you saw the Steve Schmidt quote I posted (yesterday?) saying "spread the wealth" was terminal or somesuch.

That campaign is trapped so far inside the right wing viewpoint, they can't see the map.
