Thought for the day

Joe Biden is being sexist if he comes across as too competent.

  • This sounds like a new game: "Biden's being sexist if..."

Biden's being sexist if he appears taller than Palin.
Biden's being sexist if his tie clashes with her outfit.
Biden's being sexist if he uses the pronoun "she."
    Biden's being sexist if...

  • If this wasn't all so distressing it would be funny - I AM trying to laugh at it!! Remember, "competent" women are being called sexist for not supporting Palin!

Nobody wins in this kind of environment. I feel such foreboding about tonight, that it will be such a defining moment.

  • Anon, or maybe just drunk.

    ....

EPM, they're just laying the outrage groundwork.

    .....

Ptelea, Several things. First, I find the charges of sexism towards non-Palin supporting women absolutely hilarious, especially since the GOP spent all last year developing a "hit book" against Hillary Clinton.

Second, Relax. Unless someone does something unbelievable, this debate is not likely to have any significant impact other than a bunch of people gossiping about he said/she said. This debate will not close the race.

Third, Biden's smart. He may not be perfect, but he's not going to go in and call her "little lady" or anything.

Fourth, Without some huge something, tomorrow will be all about the House voting on the bailout deal, and this debate will disappear the way the last one did.

    So, relax. We're winning.

  • "...they're just laying the outrage groundwork."

Yeah. I know. I just found it funny.... There's nothing Biden can do -- or not do -- in this debate that will stop the whining McCain team from, well, whining about sexism.

  • Definitely. The Obama camp has won the expectations war, everybody's saying Palin is a good debater, but the McCain people have done better at setting the groundwork.
