Question: Does Obama's victory liberate McCain to be truer to his "principles" more than his own victory would have?

Don't care. Don't expect to hear about McCain again.

He'll try to hijack some issue to restore the brand, but.....

Obama should reach out to McCain immediately. It would work in both men's favor to be seen as forgiving and pragmatist -- after all, they agree on some things. McCain could wind up being that crucial 59th or 60th vote and bring a few buddies along, particularly on global warming, etc.

Whether that will happen, however...

According to the official story of the night, he did, reaching out in the phone call with a very gracious mention in his speech, but whether that's real, we'll have to wait and see.
