  • It's not fun being president anymore, is it George. You're essentially a sinking lump of road kill standing in the way of progress for the next 56 days. You just simply continue to decay and contaminate the United States of America while the rest of us wait.... tick, tick, tick.

  • No, it definitely isn't fun being president anymore.

Sometime during this campaign, Bush seemed to finally realize his unpopularity.

Maybe it was when some aid had to tell him that no Republican, not one anywhere, wanted him to campaign for them. Not one.

  • News blip of Bush visiting troops as Ft. Somethingorother.

Question: How many times has Bush staged one of these military, ego-stroking photo-fests? It seems like he's either addressing "the troops" or some conservative think tank or action group.

  • Well, what else does he have left to do?

Let's talk legacy. Foreign policy disaster, domestic policy disaster, economic disaster.

Those shots of him addressing the troops are just about all he has left to fill those gauzy remembrances just 56 days from now.

  • But it's been his m.o. since 2003, no? Not just a lame duck safe haven.

  • How long before the military ask him to stop?

  • EPM, agreed, but it served something of the same purpose. It's about creating an image of him. Useful then and now, but with slightly diifferent application.

    .....

Anon, you just gave me this funny image of Bush several years from now drunkenly arguing at the gate, "But I wanna address the troops....."
