Senators

I'm not going to comment on Blagojevich trying to name Roland Burris as Senator because 1) After all the coming hurdles, I don't think he'll end up seated, and 2) I don't know enough about the process to add any light.

However, I do find it interesting that Caroline Kennedy's efforts are failing in New York. Her wave appears to have crested.

(And Franken is looking more likely to win.)

  • One thing that this recount has accomplished is to show that Coleman is completely owned by the GOP. The Party has taken over the recount challenges, and Coleman has no say over their actions or statements; he has essentially been told to shut up and let the Party work its 'magic'. Immediately after the election, Coleman (predictably) criticised the need for a recount and repeatedly expressed confidence in the process. Now, however, every aspect of the process is apparently tainted and unfair to those who speak for him.

Franken, to his credit, has appeared noticeably chastened by the entire affair and ceased his smug statements weeks ago.

For my part, I'm just thankful that we have a Democratic SOS in Minnesota.

  • If your giving yourself over to my state's shame Sen. Cornyn, your soul is already lost.
