Take that!

Republicans are ecstatic that they managed to hold onto an incumbent Senate seat in Georgia.

If that doesn't tell you where we are......

  • They held on to an incumbent seat... in freakin' Georgia. Whoop-de-freakin'-doo.

Still, I continue to be amazed that repugnant, anti-democratic, thugs get elected (and reelected) in this country. I simply cannot get my head around this.

  • That really tells me how far they've fallen.

  • Oh, and look for the headlines reporting this in overly dramatic terms: "Dem Hopes Dashed!" It's not enough that the Dems will have AT LEAST 58 senators in their caucus... And only the most starry eyed observers were seriously thinking 60 was anything but a very, very long shot.

    *sigh*

    I can't wait until 20 Jan....

  • Drudge is running a big huge assed banner on this one.

And I think the telling stat is Dems +14 Senators in two elections.

PS. Martin was never winning this without Obama bringing out the black vote.

I assume that the Dems in Georgia are like the Dems for state office here in Texas. The ones who end up running are usually not the top possible candidates because they'd rather not put a year into losing.

  • In his victory speech, Chambliss seemed loaded for bear. He can't wait to f-up Obama's plans... that is unless those plans bend to Chambliss' demands of "conservative Georgia."

The man is a modern day Calhoun (Nullification, states rights, and I would argue, closet segregationist/racist.).

  • I remember reading, leading up to and right after Nov 4, many Georgia Republicans lamenting that they'd been saddled with this guy.
