Thought

Former President Bush.

  • That hit me as well. But it wasn't until I got home from work that it dawned on me "Geroge W. Bush is no longer POTUS! He's gone!"

For so long W's been on the Presidential stage. Even after the election it felt like we had two presidents, you know. But now he's finally gone... and may he quickly become an irrelevant private citizen.

  • I think I caught it when I say the condensed coverage of his Midland speech.

(But who will I hate now?)

  • It's odd, but on television, even on C-Span, when former chief executives are referred to, it's without the 'former'. I get a shock when a tv face refers to 'President Clinton'or'President Carter'.

Maybe that's just me. Or maybe I just want it clearly understood that these guys are in the past. I would rather not hear about 'President Bush' any more for a good long while.
