Polling Limbaugh....

Reinforcing my point last week, elevating Limbaugh to the head of the opposition is good politics, so says the polling.

  • if all this is true, it cuts to the foundation of Limbaugh's show. He's always talked of himself as being outside politics, preferring to present his radio show as entertainment and commentary.

will this require him to choose either to step up and try to be a formal spokesperson, or to demur?

how does this theater affect the duly-elected Republican spokespeople -- McCain, McConnell, Palin, et al.?

  • I think that's the game the Obama folks are playing.

They're forcing him to defend himself and fight them which pulls his show out of its comfortable little niche and into the limelight.

Whether he consciously chooses to be a spokesman, they're going to make him one.

It's nice to see villainization politics played the other way.

(And so far, the politics of the GOP have forced the Republicans to defend Limbaugh. They share listeners/voters so they have to. Which puts the politicians on the Limbaugh side of that wide right line.

And to some degree, they're now hung with anything Limbaugh says.)
