  • With the sudden high profile, I just thought the Nixon reference was needed.

  • There's a few other Nixon references I'd like to see applied to Cheney... like disgraces. But it seems the GOP has turned a corner and has decided to embrace unAmerican values in the name of patriotism, so...

  • He's back.

  • He's back and he's irrelevant. The good thing is he can't make policy. He can talk about it all he wants but he can't force anyones hand anymore.

  • I know I can fall into the trap of viewing Obama through rose-colored glasses, but I have to wonder if he's a spider to Cheney's fly.... Is he letting Cheney run far and deep in his defense of torture only to call his bluff? When the GOP's cries of "torture kept us safe!" rise to a crescendo, will we then see jaw-dropping photos and documents? Possibly proving that Cheney's shadow executive branch pushed for torturing suspects to get desired (and false) confessions?

OK. It sounds stupid when I read it. But allow me my hopeful delussions. :) I just wanna see Cheney in a day-glow jumpsuit.

  • Anon, and he no longer controls the administrative intelligence process and declassification so he can no longer leak for his own policy advancement.

I mean, did you see that weak request he made for the declass of specific pages of specific documents trying to cherry pick his point? Years ago, those would have been pushed through a friendly media person and he would be on TV saying, "I saw in the NYTimes..."

    .....

EPM, I don't know what the lonmg play is on Cheney. Maybe it's as simple as not engaging because right now, the press is framing Cheney relative to past acts and Bush administration. If the Obama people engage, the footing shifts almost exclusively to a debate about their policies.

Right now, the coverage is on a better footing for them.
