Nuts

In Arizona it's legal to carry a loaded AR-15 in your hands at a political protest, but it's illegal to carry a knife over three and a half inches anywhere.

(As to a broader point, aren't all these gun toters providing cover to anyone who wants to seriously do harm?

And, what kind of shooting gallery would erupt if there was an even accidental discharge?)

  • Uzi-induced hard-ons show up with rifles in hand just BEGGING to be confronted; asked to leave; or god-forbid have their rifle taken out of their cold dead hands...then they all start screaming that they were right!!! "black-man gonna take all our guns away!!!"

  • To his credit, it appears the guy may be an carrying an Airsoft replica of an AR-15. Cryptome links to a more clear image of the rifle toting lunatic. In that photo, the weapon has a very plasticky appearance, almost toy-like. It noticeably differs from an actual AR-15; it's a longer, leaner gun than what he's toting. It's still absurd that he's there, visibly armed, but perhaps he's only a visible menace...

  • Is it seriously illegal to openly carry a knife over 3 1/2 inches long in AZ? That doesn't sound right. How do you get large kitchen knives home from the store?

As far as whether or not it is an actual AR-15... never ever take the media's identification of a firearm seriously. They are seriously bad at it even with easy to spot guns. 'AR's come in a truly astonishing number of variants, and many of them look 'plasticky'. They are like lego guns, you can take them apart and rebuild them into entirely different guns quickly and easily, if not cheaply.
