Save it, Grandpa

I can't wait until the baby boomers start to really age so that America will no longer be defined by the cultural conflicts of their youth.

I don't want to hear about Vietnam protesters or Woodstock or any of the rest of it. Only the civil rights movement and the advances of the women's movement really deserve a cultural place, and, frankly, the media ignores them.

The rest of it, the hippie vs. establishment stuff.... Save it, grandpa. We're all just sick of it.

Related: Have you seen anybody on the Republican crazy side, birthers, teabaggers, townhall disrupters, that are younger than 20 years old in the Reagan administration? Have you seen anyone younger than 40?

  • okay - they're old, and they're nutbars... but their vote counts the same as mine.

actually, I'm surrounded here by far right crazies who take what Beck and Limbaugh say as the word of God. reason does not penetrate their skulls, because their religion and their politics echo each other and cancel out the evidence of their own eyes.

  • This is off the subject but I flew into DFW and then to Waco for a job interview yesterday. It was a one-day turn-around so there wasn't too much sight-seeing but Waco looks just like Iowa but REALLY flat.

  • I don't just mean the right sided crazies. I'm sick of the entire hippie thing, too.

I'm just sick of that being such a major part of the frame of American poliics and culture. It was 40 ywears ago.

And, at least you went to see Waco in the summer, so there will be no surprises when it's ugly hot for four months.

  • Ugly hot, good one. That does explain the plethora of pools in the city.

  • I live in Houston which is relatively nearby. We have "the hot," but atleast we've got alot of rain and green.

We treat "the hot" somewhat the way northerners treat deep winter.
