Palin's book press

Palin has lined up a pretty funny (and illuminating) list of interviews to promote her book. Could you schedule a softer tour?
On Wednesday, ABC News announced that Barbara Walters would interview Palin...

Palin also has a TV interview scheduled with Oprah Nov. 16.

And Palin says she's hoping to schedule interviews with others, including Rush Limbaugh and four Fox News Channel personalities: Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Greta Van Susteren.

(I'm guessing that Katie Couric won't be on that list.)

  • Jon Stewart? Colbert? No?

In all fairness, do any political "authors" do anything more than softball interviews?

  • Well, sort of. But Barbara Walters is your tough independent press?

  • Yes. I forget the lady's name, but yes.

  • Yeah, I get it. She's going on the "lady shows" to soft peddle her neo-Confederate bigotry (and I don't just mean racial) and to show she's just a mom from Alaska, aw shucks. And she's going on propaganda shows on FoxNews to hard peddle same and to show she a leader and serious political activist for change

It could be interesting. It depends on what Walters and Winfrey really think of her. Both can be catty and both have payed their dues. So...

  • My bet is Oprah bends over backwards to be nice after the campaign (although I bet there's no Oprah seal on the book.)

And, Barbara Walters is notorious as the second softest "news" interviewer in history. (Larry King being number one.) There's a reason that dictators and politicians in trouble go to Barbara Walters.

It's not about female, it's about soft. She's not doing Campbell Brown or Katie Couric or taking har chances with Whoopie Goldberg on The View....
