Thought for the Day - 2

Whatever Sarah Palin says on Oprah is more important than healthcare, the climate change bill, or the Afghan war strategy.

  • When I was in fourth grade, whenever my friends and I were playing a game or doing something constructive, there was a bully who came over and disrupted things... Took the ball; erased the chalk lines; pushed the cards off the table... whatever. We'd get frustrated and move on to something else.

That's kind of the Republican approach to governing: wait for the Dems to do something, then jump into the pool screaming, dunking people, and splashing water everywhere. Eventually we just say frig-it and quit trying.

Not that this has any thing to do with Palin, it just how I see the GOP...

  • You know, that plays out very differently when they're in the minority rather than the majority.

  • They have been nearly as successful in the minority as they were in the majority when it comes to halting progress... That proverbial zit on the ass of progress.

  • Okay, I'll certainly buy that they've frozen things, but it's not nearly as bad as when they were in power and actually passing legislation themselves. Think back and remember, the corporate giveaways, the tax cuts for the rich, the stripping of environmental, health, and safety regulation....

  • Agreed.

One side effect of the GOP being in the minority... it's removed the Blue Dogs' cover. They're now exposed in a way there weren't before.

Not sure how this plays out in the district elections, but it's a difference on the national stage.
