Thought for the Day

I read news every day, but I can't tell you, except in the vaguest terms, what's in the health bill that's about to pass.

The healthcare procedural story been the topline story for weeks (and maybe the most written story for the Obama presidency,) but in all that, how much ink has been spilled telling us what's actually in the bill?

  • I believe it includes death camps of some sort. I'm not sure of the details, but it has to do with Nazi's

Also, pregnant women will automatically have their fetuses aborted unless they purchase a separate opt-out plan.

And I think there's something about making Spanish the national language, forcing teens to experiment with gay sex, and banning hospitals from having bibles (these will replaced with Korans signed by Barack HUSSEIN Obama)

Oh yeah. And they'll take your guns.

Seriously, I get your point. I thought about the hypocrisy on my part when I call the wingnuts "uninformed loons" though I myself haven't done any independent reading of bills (assuming there are even pdf versions available).

  • Regarding "how much ink..."

Couldn't this comment be made about ANY legislative/political story? I mean, nearly all reporting is about the theater of politics... or reduced to context-free "he-said, he-said", or regurgitation of hand-fed talking points (usually from the Repubs)

  • Your first comment made me laugh.

And, yes, much legislation isn't fully fleshed out by the press, but very few pieces of modern legislation have been headlining for over a year. Very few have had entire days of network coverage devoted to protests against.

I mean, yes, they don't normally flesh out, but given the enormous amount of space and time this has been given, it's especially unforgivable.

  • Not only does the media not flesh out legislation, they don't even provide factual outlines of what's in the legislation. Nor to they debunk wild assertions of what's in the legislation. So while I see your point, I would go further and say forget about fleshing out, the (broadcast) news media doesn't even give you a skeletal frame work!

But we've gone on about this before (the mind numbing, intelligence sucking news media). I'm just so hungry for real, factual debate.

  • I'd like to think I am ready for serious debate, but if you really look at the content of the blog.... not so much, eh?
