Department of consumer crap

The FDA is launching a program to reduce the sodium content in processed foods.

And, a lot of institutions are temporarily blocking the Apple IPad because its method of WiFi connection is interfering with other devices.

Right now, the nation of Israel bans IPads, impounding them at the borders.

  • It's not the governments job to tell me how much sodium I can have! Hell, I don't even want the government to tell me what's IN the food I eat! The next thing you know we'll all be rounded up into some sort of Richard Simmons fitness camp! (and I think he's, you know, gay... so that's anti-Christian as well as anti-American.)

"...its method of WiFi connection is interfering with other devices."

The irony is that this is from a company that exercises dictatorial control over what apps it will PERMIT to run on it's device... in the name of protecting the utopian purity of the perfect ecosystem. It's like a model community that prides itself on being litter free... by dumping it's garbage over the wall into the next community. :)

Seriously, thought, Apple must have redesigned it's WiFi DHCP protocols for the iPad. iPhone and iPod Touch both support WiFi and I haven't heard a peep about these causing problems.

And bandwidth, bandwidth, bandwidth... It's like the national road system c. 1955.... all those tail-finned V8s and nothing but crappy roads. If only American know how to solve big problems... I know: crazy talk.

  • Unrelated -- and I know you'r not a fan of DKos -- but this was an interesting read.

  • I think the salt thing will be a political football, but I do think it's a good idea.

As for Apple, I'm not much of a tech guy, but it's pretty amazing they rolled out this product with such a core problem.

On the other hand, their image relies on not bumping release dates, and their most loyal folks will buy even flawed products from them.

And, that is a pretty good read.

My general broad objection to Kos is that the posts are frequently very light on usable facts (at least in the density to the amount written.)

  • I tend to try and work on a different blogging model with facts or links at center, and then a bit of framing (or hopefully thought provoking) opinion around the sides whereas alot of the Kos posting tends to work on the opposite model with opinion center and facts around the sides.

My point is the news itself and trying to figure out what it means.

In theory, I'm aiming for divination and definition, using the blog to try and decide what I think rather than fitting the facts into what I already believe.

It's just a different (not profitable) way to go at it. I'm not after flattering my readers or validating their opinions (FoxNews proves that's profitable.)

In the end, this blog is for me.
