Marketing

If nothing else, you have to admire the Apple folks for getting their new product featured for days on frontpages around the country (especially since there's no real application for it yet.)

  • It's sorta like the Tea Party movement. Grabbing headlines everywhere even though they offer no solutions.

While the iPad solves no problem I have, the device and it's implementation are just intriguing. It's techno-art to some degree. It doesn't need a to do anything new. It just needs to do it cooler.

  • I kinda got put off by the the no Flash and no USB ports.

But it's just a weird "cult of Apple" thing.

  • Yeah. Plus no ability to connect to a shared printer, or browse a network shared iPhoto library. No SD card slot, nor a simple phone-like camera.

And people will line up.... I suppose we should be happy. It might make a dent in the economy and consumer confidence numbers :)

I still say Apple and it's fans are like FoxNews and the Tea Party fans... Marketing hype and hysteria over an intangible mystique.

  • Yeah. the cult has always fascinated me.

I've been anti- apple ever since I had to buy a $45 printer cable way back in the 90's.
