  • True, but the Obama folks took him on.

    It was a horrible decision in the first place, though. If you put in someone willing to sell their soul to you, you can't really be surprised when they subsequently start cutting other deals.

    What choice did they have? A CIA coup?

    The Obama admin may have taken him on, but I don't think the relationship could be any more frosty. And still be functional at all.

    If I was ever an Obama fanboy, I'm more sober now. But in all fairness they walked into a major pile of Bushit when they took over. And I mean Bushit EVERYWHERE... Not a single American policy or agency or department was left that didn't have some Bushit flung on it by the time the Bushies left.

    I'm cutting Obama a little slack on some of this stuff. Maybe I'm too soft.

  • Actually what I think he was doing was trying to do the old Arafat trick of one characterization in English and another in the local untranslated tongue, but he got caught.

    (Probably because "I might join the Taleban" in more than you can hide in "translation error.")

  • Ah... This makes sense. Such "translation" difficulties seem to happen more often with Middle Eastern languages than, say, Cyrillic or Sino languages. I wonder why that is?
